Sea 'N Air Men's Golf Club Monthly Minutes

April 20, 2009, 19th Hole Restaurant

The meeting was called to order at 1300 by Vice President Carl Stokes.

President Ted Sholl, Treasurer Bill Scarborough and Entertainment Chairman John Lepore were not present.

Minutes of the March meeting were approved.

Treasurer:  It was noted that the treasurer’s report showed 13 new members vs the 32 new members on the membership roster.  Rob Crenshaw and Bill Scarborough will get together to resolve this difference.

Special Projects:  The picture board extension has been completed.  Now we need photos.

Weekday Tournament:  Considering changing the handicap ranges for the results in order to even out the number of participants in each category.

Tournament:  39 have signed up for this month’s tournament.  There may be changes in how to score for this weekend.  Payout should not be public information: posting on the club bulletin board is not public.

Handicap:  Spot checking of posting of score is continuing and has been very good.

SCGA:  No report.

Senior League:  In the 8th week we are in 4th or 5th place out of 21 teams.  We are 9 – 4 – 1.

Entertainment:  No report.

Publicity: The March tournament results were published in the Coronado Eagle/Journal.

MWR:  Proposal was made for the Superintendent and Head Pro to attend the meetings. A compliment was given to Jim Svoboda for good results achieved at Sea n Air in the time he has been superintendent.  Improvements to driving range are not likely due to the water crisis.  The recent increase in fees is for long term facilities improvements.  The restroom at the 15th green is due for completion in June.

Webmaster:  No report.

OLD BUSINESS:
The environmental area along the 15th fairway has been staked as a lateral hazard as discussed with SCGA

NEW BUSINESS:
Discussion of a major prize for the Member Guest Tournament and the cost of insurance was initiated and will be continued at the May Board meeting.

It was noted that some areas are not marked as ground under repair.  Gene Kemp will mention that to Jim Svoboda.
The next Board meeting will be Tuesday May 26 due to the Memorial Day Holiday.

The meeting adjourned at 1336.

Respectfully submitted,

Bob Hansen
Secretary
