The meeting was called to order by President Ted Sholl at 1307.
A welcome to incoming Board members was extended and a big thank you to outgoing Board members was expressed.
The minutes of the November meeting were approved.
The treasurer reported that a budget committee had been formed and consists of the president, treasurer, webmaster, and Terry Rogers. The committee will meet December 23 and prepare a budget for presentation and approval at the January meeting.
Weekday Play – Bob presented a folding desktop easel that contained the pages of the different games played and SOP. This is an improvement over the prior method of selecting the page at the front of the file folder. The experiment with voluntary desk duty sign ups will be discontinued and duty assignment for a month will resume.
Handicap – 112 members have not renewed as of this date but many renewals are still coming in. GHIN: package has arrived. It may be possible to continue the dialup internet access and avoid the $60/mo ISP fee. From 12/22 -1/4scoreswill not be able to be posted due to transitioning to GHIN. Score cards can be left in the orange box and Jim will enter them when the system comes back up or members can post after Jan 4th. Our website has a page of info on the new GHIN system.
Tournament – 15 foursomes have signed up for the monthly tournament. Players should check the website Friday night to see if any changes have been made in tee times. 2010 tournaments are being finalized. The May tournament will have a different format from last year. Teams may choose whether they want to use this tournament to qualify for the SCGA 4 ball tournament in the fall. The board voted to not fund the SCGA 4 ball $220 entry fee for our local winners.
SCGA Rep – Reiterated the status of the GHIN implementation.
MWR Rep – No report.
Sr. League – First match is 1/12 vs Chula Vista, last season’s district champs. Two new members have been added. Team golf shirts can be purchased at 32nd St.
Entertainment – Chris will coordinate the annual board dinner. The board voted approval of January 11 as the date of the dinner.
Webmaster – Will e blast to remind members to renew, inform of GHIN and provide a link to our website for GHIN info. There will be no monetary penalty for renewing late, but players who have not renewed will be unable to post scores or look up their monthly index.
Publicity – November tournament results and the picture of the board of governors appeared in the Coronado Eagle/Journal.
Rules – Gene and John will attend the February rules seminar.
Old business – The language of the by laws change allowing the tournament committee to determine the most equitable distribution of prize money was approved.
The next Board of Governor’s meeting will be January 20, 2010 at 1300 at the 19th Hole Restaurant.
