Sea 'N Air Men's Golf Club Monthly Minutes

Wed, August 26, 2009

The meeting was called to order by President Ted Sholl at 1300.

The minutes of the July meeting were approved.

The revised treasurer’s report was received.

Reports:

Sea N Air Pro and Superintendent:  Ted Sholl thanked them for their preparations for a very successful member/guest tournament.  Jim asked if there were preferences for the set up for the club championship.  No special requirements were provided.  Aerating the greens has been rescheduled to not interfere with the club championship tournament.  Brown patches are in areas where water pressure in the sprinkler system is low.  Plugs from green aerating will be removed from the fringes of the greens.  Efforts are being made to make the bunkers more consistent.
All Navy golf camp will be at Sea N Air for 24 golfers vying for the Navy team in the All Armed Forces golf tournament to be at Pendleton in late Oct/early Nov.

Special Projects:  Will need to budget for plaques next year.  This year’s plaques were from prior year unused ones.

Weekday play:  Considerable discussion regarding changing the handicap ranges of the three flights to make the number of players more even among the three.  A vote will be taken for a trial of new ranges in October.

Tournament:  55 players have signed up for the August tournament.
Handicap:  2 Nov is the SCGA tournament for club and senior champions.  Men’s club does not pay fees.  6 new members this month, 59 total for the year-to-date.

SCGA Rep:  No report.

Senior League:  3 match winning streak.

Entertainment:  Not planning anything for the club championship.  Next event is the annual meeting.

Webmaster:  Trying to get more members to opt in for email communication. Checking into ISP’s for internet access.

Publicity:  After numerous attempts, tournament results were published in the Coronado Eagle/Journal.

MWR Rep: No report.

Nominations for 6 vacancies on the BOG are being made.
Membership drive discussion will be held in the future.

The meeting was adjourned at 1400.

The next meeting will be September 23 at 1300 at the 19th Hole restaurant.

Respectfully submitted,
