May 26, 2009, 19th Hole Restaurant

The meeting was called to order at 1257 hours by President Ted Sholl. George Lanman, Bill Scarborough and Steve Myatt were not present.

The minutes of the April meeting were approved.

REPORTS

Treasurer’s report, previously distributed, was approved.

Special Projects:  The cost of the new photo boards was under budget.

Weekday Play:  No report.

Tournament:  50 have signed up for the monthly tournament.  Signing up for tournaments on-line is preferred as the software does a lot of the work automatically.  Paper sign up sheets will still be available at the bulletin board and, when revised, will include tee time preference.

If rules of our tournaments are different from others it is because the committee has the authority to specify the rules.

Handicap:  Committee will post this month’s tournament scores as a tournament round.

Spot checks of weekday play continue to be good.  One member has not been posting scores, has been notified, and will be penalized if not corrected in 30 days.

SCGA 4 ball tournament – Players must have an index of less than or equal to 18.4 at time of registration.  Committee will adjust if index changes but must be less than 8 strokes different.

SCGA Rep:  There have been no issues regarding staking the 15th fairway along the environmental area as a lateral hazard.

Senior League:  Record is 10 – 9 – 1.  Presently in 7th place out of 21 teams.  (CLICK HERE for details) Difficult matches approaching.  League would like to have more participation.

Entertainment:  Prizes are needed for the member-guest tournament.  Discussion of how to conduct the drawing to save time drew several suggestions.  These suggestions and the topic of having a major prize and insurance to cover it will continue to be discussed.

A wedding reception has been scheduled for the evening of the member-guest tournament.  Matt Brumbaugh will ensure that catering does not try to “evict” us for their set up.

Webmaster:  A new ISP is being used for the web site.  If anyone notices any changes in function please let Rob know so it can be corrected.  The blog is not getting much use.  Membership of the Men’s Club is now 257.

Publicity:  Results of the April tournament were published in the Coronado Eagle/Journal but in a garbled format.

MWR Rep:  No report.

OLD BUSINESS

Major prize for member guest tournament will continue to be discussed.
Cars damaged in parking lot: A report needs to made to Security and a claim submitted after repairs are made.  This applies primarily to broken glass.

NEW BUSINESS

Members are encouraged to support the Veteran’s Village tournament.  This organization does a lot of good work for veterans that are in need of assistance of many kinds.  Rob will check to see if the registration deadline can be extended.

Change of day for the BOG meetings was discussed so Matt can attend.  Meetings will be on Wednesday vs Monday beginning with the June 24 meeting.

The meeting adjourned at 1342 hours.

Respectfully submitted,

Bob Hansen
Secretary
