Sea and Air Men’s Golf Club
Board of Governor’s Meeting
The meeting was called to order at 1:10 by president Ted Sholl.
Excused absentees: Gene Kemp, John Gilliland, Dave Schlesinger, Zeke Zaludek
The minutes of the January meeting were approved.
Reports
Treasurer: There were 64 membership renewals and 5 new members in January. Total membership is 248. Budget is based on 250. An audit will be conducted before the March meeting.
Special Projects: Report is included with the report of the memorial tournament ad hoc committee.
Weekday play: Now that handicaps change mid month not everyone is using their handicap for the second half of the month.
Handicap: GHIN seems to be working and there were no problems expressed by other board members.
SCGA Rep: No report.
Tournament: 29 have signed up which is the lowest number ever. One will be dropped to make the field all foursomes. Monday is the cutoff for signing up for tournaments.
Senior League: Record is 3-3-1. Twin Oaks is next. Discussion concerned carts driving too close to the greens. Etiquette page on website will address, word will be passed among membership and pro shop will be asked to remind people when blue flags are given out.
Entertainment: No report.
Webmaster: Site is up to date. Etiquette, slow play, handicap carts near greens will be included on a site page.
Rules: No report.
Publicity: The one week rain delay of the January tournament was reason results have not been published in the Coronado Eagle/Journal.
MWR Rep: No report.
Military League: The league schedule had alredy been completed prior to our club expressing an interet in participating this year. As a result there will be informal matches scheduled with individual clubs over the season instead.
Old Business
Prizes for member-guest tournament: Will discuss at March meeting.
Mixed tournament: Ted will met with representative of Women’s Club to discuss and prepare a proposal.
Memorial Tournament ad hoc committee: The committee proposed a change to the Constitution By Laws which was approved by the board. The change is:
Appendix 1, Section 6: Club members shall include all past and present members. The memorial tournament will be a permanent item on the Board of Governor’s December meeting. Individuals who are to be recognized will be identified and the form of recognition approved at this meeting. All future newsletters should ask all members to inform the board of individuals who should be recognized.
New Business
Ad hoc committee to review constitution and by laws: Ted, Rob, Bob and Chuck will review, discuss and present their findings at a later meeting.
The next BOG meeting will be March 24.
